YouDevise’s trade idea monitor (TIM) has seen a surge in volume since the Greek financial crisis.

At the end of March 2010 the idea monitor had sent 944,334 trade recommendations to clients including hedge funds.

During April another 33,496 ideas were sent, followed by 22,170 in the first 12 trading days of May.

As a consequence institutional brokerage companies have now sent over one million stock trade ideas to clients in just over five years.

The one millionth idea transmitted by the system was a short on a European stock contributed in Madrid by Luis Rioja of Grupo Santander.

The Trade Idea Monitor was launched in January 2005. Currently over 450 sell-side companies including international, national and boutique brokers and 150 buy-side companies use the service.

Stock trading ideas enable brokerage companies to send clients actionable buy/sell recommendations tailored for particular clients. Trade ideas are time sensitive, indicate how much money should be committed, and are typically paid for based on performance.
